Allison K. Hall-Mullen
McNary National Wildlife Refuge
Previous to being hired, I volunteered at a nearby wildlife refuge on projects including wildlife surveys, wildlife monitoring, water and vegetation sampling, and habitat restoration.

Recent Volunteer Projects
Yakama Nation Fisheries
Through the Yakama Nation Tribe in southeastern Washington, I volunteered at the fisheries with salmon inventory, data collection, and coded-wire and PIT-tagging of fish.

Bird Banding
I assisted with mist-netting and banding passerines in local parks as part of a research study comparing the movements of wintering and resident birds in urban parks.

Grizzly Bear Research Facility
At the Grizzly Bear Research Facility, I helped with the daily feeding, behavioral monitoring, and regular weight checks of the bears.

Wild Ungulate Facility
While at the facility, I took part in the daily care and feeding of the mule deer and monitored their health and behavior. I assisted with giving vaccines, drawing blood and immobilization. I administered medications and treatments, and bottle fed/hand raised fawns.

Past Volunteer Projects
Research Assistant: Australia
While in New South Wales, Australia as a volunteer research assistant, I performed behavioral observations and gathered data on re-sighted, color banded satin bowerbirds. We used motion-activated camera equipment to capture footage of their behaviors:
courtship displays, and bower destruction/decoration theft by rival males.

Cougar Population Research
I briefly assisted with a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife project trapping, collaring, and processing cougars in the Bue Mountains for population research.
